What is Open Play?
Open Play is a predetermined time where players show up at the courts to play pickleball. It allows players to come and go without ever setting up a game or foursome; you simply show up with paddle in hand and join in. Private / Individual games are not allowed during Open Play hours.

-
Use the Rotation Board (see below) to establish an orderly waiting line for the next available court.
-
Enter the courts together when it's your time to play.
-
Play a single game to 11 points and then yield the court to waiting players.
How To Use the Rotation Board for Open Play
The Rotation Board located at the Timbertown Courts west entrance and at the Chelsea Senior Center will be used during all Open Play times even if empty courts are available. This is to include all waiting players. Games will be played to 11 points - No exceptions, please.

INSTRUCTIONS
-
Put your first name in the first open box OR the next box. Rotation of play starts in the upper left box and proceeds to the bottom right box.
-
Players may write their names in a box as a GROUP (4), PARTNERS (2) or SINGLE. If you want to play with your full group, put all 4 names in the next empty box.
-
Listen for your name and be ready to play. If you are not ready, you risk losing your spot!
-
When a box of players go out to a court, draw an "X" over the names. Erase only when all boxes are complete with "X".
-
When a game is over, all 4 players must exit the court, and 4 new players from the next box enter the court.

CONSIDERATIONS
-
You cannot be actively playing on a court AND have your name in another box.
-
If the next box has less than 4 names, anyone can join them to complete a box.
-
No box jumping. No group of 4 players may jump ahead of an incomplete box.
How To Play the Challenge Court
The Challenge Court at Timbertown is an inclusive opportunity for ANY team to participate. No other player may discourage or restrict anyone from the Challenge Court. Players electing to play on the Challenge Court should understand that the games will be challenging and a "no mercy" type of play. It is designed to allow players to test their skill level, practice together and make for a fun, competitive court.

INSTRUCTIONS
-
To play on the Challenge Court, you must have a partner. Write both your names in the first available square on the Challenge Court board.
-
Once 2 players/partners are signed up, your team will be in the rotation.
-
When a game ends, the winning team stays on together on the court, and the losing team exits the court. The next team on the Challenge Court board enters to challenge the winning team.
-
If a team has won two consecutive games, they must exit the court. This may result in 2 new teams taking the court.
-
Exiting teams may write their names in the first available square to play again.
-
Players should cross out names on the board once they have played their complete turn.
-
Players may participate in other games while waiting, if signed up on the Open Play rotation board. If you begin a game in Open Play, you MUST finish that entire game and cannot quit early if your Challenge team is called to play. Your team will be "scratched" from the Challenge Court if you miss your turn.
-
Court 1 is the designated Challenge Court. Once there are less than 3 teams/pairs on the board, the court can be used as an Open Play rotation court.
